1. Know your programme
Egyptian pharmacy faculties offer more than one programme, including clinical pharmacy (PharmD) tracks, and newer programmes include a training or internship period before graduation. Your faculty can confirm exactly what your degree includes.
2. Registration and licensing
Pharmacists register with the Egyptian Pharmacists Syndicate and obtain a licence to practise from the Ministry of Health and Population. Confirm the current steps and documents with both.
3. The main career tracks
- Community pharmacy: dispensing and patient counselling in pharmacies and chains.
- Hospital and clinical pharmacy: working with medical teams on medicines use, often after further clinical training.
- Industry: manufacturing, quality control and quality assurance, research and development, and regulatory affairs in pharmaceutical companies.
- Medical information and sales: representing products to healthcare professionals.
- Regulation: roles with the Egyptian Drug Authority, which regulates medicines in Egypt.
4. What to do this year
- Try more than one track through summer training or an internship before you commit.
- Record every training placement on your profile, with dates and supervisors.
- Set an alert on Credentia for pharmacy internships and training in the track you are considering.
